Hazel & Andy were married in the end of June in the Montreal Botanical Gardens/Jardin Botanique de Montreal . Hazel we met through Cortez, who was best man at Kurt & Julie’s wedding that’s posted in the Destination wedding category here on the blog. Anyway, Hazel is Cortez’s sister, and we were very happy to have been part of their wedding day. The wedding was an intimate affair, with a small number of family and friends, and the venue was absolutely stunning. The Botanical Gardens offer a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding ceremony, as well as for the family and bridal party portraits. From there we headed to a great downtown restaurant for a brilliant reception and gourmet dinner.

After Hazel & Andy’s wedding, my husband Casey and I stayed in Montreal for 4 days to visit with friends and to celebrate our own wedding anniversary. Montreal is one of my favourite Canadian cities without a doubt. There is so much culture and life. One of the highlights for me was our visit to the Galerie Orange in Vieux Montreal. The gallery focuses on contemporary art, and I was so happy to have arrived during a photography exhibit featuring a group of Quebec artists. But the true highlight was to have a look through a limited edition handprinted set of books by famed Quebecois photographer, Serge Clement. I first saw his work at the Corkin Gallery in the Distillery District in Toronto, and have been inspired by his work ever since. I have to say that if you are ever going to Montreal, you should check out the gallery!
