It has been a super busy fall with weddings, portraits and corporate lifestyle work. Our annual fall portrait promotion was a huge success, and we are now processing all of those client print & custom framing orders in time for Christmas. While doing so many portrait ordering appointments lately, and helping people with ideas for custom framing and displaying their portraits in their homes…I thought this would be a great time to share some tips for displaying portraits in your home…
Tips for displaying portraits in your home:
Be your art…Let us help you with your portrait design and display options. We have the expertise to help customize your galleries for your home…whether you would like suggestions on grouping portraits, should you do custom framing or gallery wrapped canvases…well, the possibilities are endless!
Tip #1: Showcase a series of images.
Why not showcase a series of images from your portrait session or wedding. We often will design custom framing that has anywhere between 3-7 images in one single frame. Another great idea is to frame single images in a series of frames. You can choose a variety of sizes. This works great with 11×14 or 16×20 images…Of course if you have the space, you can go even bigger.
Tip #2: Go big.
Choose your favourite single image from the session and go big…a gorgeous 20×30 canvas or larger has a beautiful impact. The size sounds intimidating to some, but when you display it properly in your home, it will have a great visual impact. I love large portraits…they truly are a work of art when displayed nicely…and they truly catch your eye, so you will be able to enjoy it for years to come. We suggest that you measure the wall space, and provide us with the measurements so that we can help with the size selection and presentation options.
Tip #3: Custom Framing to complete the artistic vision.
Custom framing is absolutely necessary to complete the portrait. We have been custom framing our work since we opened our doors in 2003. We have a selection of frames that will work perfectly to complete the artistic vision of Jennifer Klementti Photography, and compliment your portraits. Honestly, there should be no question of whether or not to complete your portraits with our custom framing services…you will see how great our portraits look on our walls when you come into the studio…let us provide this service to you as well! Another great advantage is that we guarantee our framed portraits for a lifetime…how can you beat that?
Tip #4: Display your images in an album, book or portfolio box.
Why not choose a custom designed album, fine art coffee table book or gorgeous portfolio box. These are some of our client’s favourite items. If you’re running out of wallspace, our fabulous collection albums, books and portfolio boxes in our boutique are a great way of displaying your images. Our MINI Show-Offs are a favourite for grandparents, and our coffee table books are a beautiful way to enjoy your portraits for years to come. Of course all of our boutique products are archival and made to last a lifetime.
Tip #5: Be untraditional!
I just love the images that best capture people’s personalities…a captured moment of laughter, play or connection instead of a traditional image. Or what about an image that has a more artistic composition. There is absolutely nothing wrong with traditional, but perhaps you may want to display something a little different. When you look at your image displayed nicely in your home for the years to come, you will always fondly remember that moment. The best compliment that I hear back from my clients is that they can’t believe how I truly captured their child’s real personality…or that expression that I captured is one that is so characteristic of their son or daughter. I love hearing this from my clients…it means so much to me to be able to truly capture moments, personalities & expressions in their portraits that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Well, there are a few tips for you. Enjoy your decorating! Please remember to take advantage of our portrait design & display expertise, and let us help you fill your home with cherished portraits to enjoy for years to come.
We are still accepting portrait orders for Christmas until FRIDAY DECEMBER 11th. We have added new Gallery Wrapped Canvas sizes as well as new custom frames to our collection.
